The Lemonade Circle & Serendipity Social Co

The Lemonade Circle is dedicated to EMPOWERING young women of color in San Antonio, with an emphasis on Black females, in 5th grade and beyond to #makeLEMONADE out of life's lemons. From enriching experiences to empowering connections, we're here to fuel their dreams, foster their growth, and celebrate their unique identities. SSCo CEO, Ryn Pitts, was sworn in as the Director of Branding & Marketing on the Leadership Board for TLC in March of 2023, and since then, SSCo and TLC have worked together in a variety of ways. The SSCo and TLC partnership aims to educate and empower girls within The Circle by collaborating on numerous kinds of events such as; Social Media Workshops, community building events, and Mental Health teachings and support. Since joining TLC’s Board, Ryn has served as a Mentor, resource, and friend to the women of The Lemonade Circle organization working with them to help sustain a strong digital presence on socials and helping to capture photos at their community events.

Confidence Camp For TLC High School Members

With 15 girls in attendance during the four-hour long Confidence Camp, the girls were lead through four different presentations that touched on the importance of confidence while also teaching them valuable skills and tricks to use after the camp. For the camp, I was joined by three amazing women, Monica Hayes, Diamond Dyson, & Tarra Hardeman!

Monica Hayes, who is a Master Stylist at K Charles & Co Salons, Director of Hair Education, and a Neill Educator lead the hair portion of the class. She taught the girls the history of black hair, hair basics, and finished with a hands-on demonstration teaching the girls how to do the Jumbo Twist hairstyle.

Diamond Dyson, who is a SATX-based Personal Stylist & Podcaster lead the fashion portion of the class. Her presentation gave numerous tips for finding your personal style, developing your personal style, and being unapologetic when rocking your personal style!

Tarra Hardeman, owner of The Carmel Soap Co, a natural and handmade skincare boutique lead the skincare portion of the class. Tarra gave the girls insight on breakouts, what might be causing them and how to clear them, some cleanliness tips that can benefit your skin (like changing your pillow case every 3-4 days!), and finished her presentation with product education.

As for me, I spoke on the importance of confidence, how to build it, and I taught them the art of the #fakeittillyoumakeit method and how changing the way you speak to yourself can change the way you feel about yourself.

"#Choco-LIT & Lemonade" Black Chilren's Literacy Event

With the help of TLC members Nevaeh & Lenae, SSCo co-hosted their second literacy event for The Lemonade Circle! During our event we packaged all of the donations gathered from our Black Hair Care Drive and discussed the book “Hair Love” by Matthew A. Cherry. During our time together, TLC members were able to reflect on their experiences and share stories with and support for one another. Together, we were able to collect over 20 bags of black haircare supplies that were donated to BoysVille Inc, Pathways Youth and Family Services, and The Youth Center of Texas, which is an organization that specializes in sex trafficking and other support services.

SSCo x TLC 2023 Content Queens Social Media Summer Program

The purpose of the program was to give chosen TLC members an opportunity to work alongside and shadow myself and learn the basics of Content Creation, Photography, and Branding.

Over the program, the Content Queens were able to do a branding shoot and build a social media plan for a TLC Senior member who wants to open a bakery, we did a photoshoot with a TLC Senior who wants to be a model and we partnered with two local women-owned boutiques for the outfits, and we had many different content days that focused different kinds of content creation.

They finished the program with a social event for TLC members to connect and have fun with friends one final time before starting their school year. The Content Queens hosted the event as well as handled the Event Planning, Graphic Marketing, and Promotion of the event.

The Lemonade Circle LinkedIn Series

Parts 1 & 2 of our LinkedIn Teaching Series focused on making a good first impression online, starting with a strong, professional headshot. SSCo partnered with Alex Lobos and Arianna Muller of Elite Eyebrows & Makeup Studio to provide professional MUA services to 14 TLC High School members during their Headshot Session. For part 3, SSCo CEO Ryn Pitts guided TLC members and parents through a two-hour long LinkedIn Workshop that taught them how to build their profile, the basics of LinkedIn, and how to use the platform as a networking tool. In total, the workshop hosted 25 people.

SSCo Hosts #ContentForACause Giveaway in Support of TLC

The #ContentForACause Raffle Giveaway was hosted by SSCo in efforts to fundraise for The Lemonade Circle organization. San Antonio Small Business owners entered for the chance to win a full-service Content Day for their business. We teamed up with our Business Partners to provide Hair, Makeup, Photography, and Video services for free for the winner. The rules were that in order to be put into the raffle, a minimum donation of $25 to The Lemonade Circle was required. In total, we were able to raise $500 to be donated to The Lemonade Circle!

"#Choco-LIT & Lemonade" Black Children's Book Event

With the help of TLC members Nevaeh & Lenae, SSCo co-hosted a literacy event for The Lemonade Circle! The goal of this event was to gather black children's book donations to then be delivered to chosen San Antonio schools. During the event, members were tasked with numerous team bonding exercises and questions to further help members get to know one another. While participating in the exercises, members were given bags to decorate and then fill with books. In total, we were able to donate 90 black children's books to the Essence Prep School and SA Prep schools.
