#SocialSpotlight: Back to You Organization

During the month of April, I had the amazing privilege of sitting in on a Back To You Certification Course with one of my clients. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this organization, allow me to shine the #socialspotlight! Back to You was founded in November of 2018. One of its founders, Harry D. Wood IV. Wood, is a leading stylist in the hair industry, author of continuing education books, coach for Aveda and Estee Lauder North America for 28 years and has been heavily invested in the alternative hair business over the last 14 years. With the help of the help of Jon Reneau, one of the largest Wig Manufacturers in the world, the Back To You Organization is empowering individuals at every step of their hair loss journey and instilling confidence in stylists around the world.

"Our mission at Back To You is to ease our client's suffering from medically related hair loss by providing alternative hair solutions in a salon environment. We train and certify the best stylists in the country to listen, understand, and use their expertise to meet our client’s needs, wants and lifestyle." - Backtoyou.org

What was the goal of creating this organization?

"All of our founders, Harry D. Wood IV, Josie Berry & David Green, and many of our stylists, have been impacted by medically related hair loss, whether personally, through a family member or close friend, or through longtime clients. We were inspired by our collective experiences to find a better alternative for the people in our lives and the people in the communities where we live and work."

One of the amazing and unique qualities about B2Y is their requirement of an 8 hour class session to ensure stylists have the desired preparation and knowledge needed before being able to work with clients suffering from hair loss.

Can you tell us about the Certification Course offered by B2Y?

In this class, stylists learn how to consult with guest to determine the alternative hair fiber (Synthetic, Heat Defiant Synthetic or Human Hair), proper cap construction or topper design, how to measure to ensure the perfect fit and how to cut and style the wigs and toppers.

"Our class allows them the needed training to feel ready and be able to assist in their client’s transition before, during, and after hair loss, so they never miss a beat by providing exceptional service in a salon environment."

What has been the most rewarding part about this organization?

"Being able to help women with medical hair loss feel and look like themselves again."

What is one thing you want to say to women who are struggling with their hair loss journey?

"Every Back to You client is a person, not a patient. A person’s world can be totally changed by losing their hair due to a medical condition. The Back To You experience is unique because it allows our guests to step outside of their medical treatment for a salon beauty experience while receiving professional guidance in alternative hair. We understand what they are going through and stand ready to serve them, their friends & family and our community.

Although medical hair loss has not affected me personally, I believe that everyone deserves to feel pampered and indulge themselves in acts of #selfcare, and for many woman, self care starts at the salon.

When I was first introduced to this organization, I was truly amazed by its ability and dedication to solving people's needs. After talking with one of the founders, I truly understood not only the demand for an organization like this, but the importance and true benefit it has as well. The changing of appearance is something that is inevitable, however, companies like Back To You are making that journey less daunting and allowing people something truly priceless; Peace of mind knowing that they are being taken care of.

"I know this transformation is painful, but you're not falling apart; You're just falling into something different, with a new capacity to be beautiful." - William C. Hannan
